a workbook for discernment

i also received a workbook from the Poor Clares when i was discerning. it is basically a way to discern whether or not the decision you are considering is a God's Call. The workbook itself has some obtuse language, but the exercises are very good. it is something you should work on prayerfully and then share with your spiritual director.

for those who would like to download it, i've typed it up (so please excuse any spelling errors, etc.) and you can download it here http://files-upload.com/files/467892/Discernment_Workbook.pdf
it was originally distributed by the National Catholic Vocation Council of Chicago IL.

you will need Adobe Acrobat to read the file, but it's free to download at www.adobe.com if you don't already have it :)

my prayers are with you all!

I'm downloading it right now, thank you so much!!
you're welcome! i hope you find it helpful. some of his explanations seem overly psychological, but the exercises were helpful, and working on it with your spiritual director really helps :)

you'll be in my prayers :)
Printed this out, all twenty pages. Thankyouuu.
Thank you- I look forward to seeing where this takes me!
i hope that it can be of some help!

my prayers are with you all!
Would it be possible for you to re-upload this file? I would love to have a look at it. Thanks.
i'm so sorry this took me so long to get to. i had to find another service that offered free uploads and downloads. you can find it here
Thank you so much for this. I apologize for not responding sooner. I really appreciate you reuploading this. It looks really helpful.
i do pray that you find it useful. i myself am going through it again. this time to help discern whether or not i have a vocation to the OCDS (Discacled Carmelite Secular Order). though, as before, i know that the vocation directress will know me better than myself, so i'm working on it with her input as well.

i know now why God wanted me to stay in the world. for me, the convent was the easier path. i would not have to make choices or be barraged by the noise and glitter of the world. so now He has challenged me to stay in the world but not be of it.

it took me years to understand this though, and much heartache from being turned away from Carmel and the Poor Clares (was turned away because of chronic, someime severe mental illness that just is not compatible with full enclosure) when i felt so sure i was to live a life of prayer and sacrifice. well, i do have that calling, but i must learn detachment outside in the world.

maybe what i'm trying to say is to doing the exercises with a spiritual director or a formation directress would be of most help to you.

you will definitely be in my prayers.

feel free to add me if you like, but there won't be any more in my journal until after Lent..as i have given up the internet other than email in order to practice some extra detachment.

when LJ emailed me your response, i guess i felt it would be appropriate to respond as long as i did not log in to LJ. you can learn more about my story if you'd like to know it in my joural. it's not that long.
